MUMBAI: The daughter of India's richest man got married on Wednesday in a traditional ceremony in Mumbai attended by Bollywood stars and former USA presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The 37-year-old singer performed Sunday and sang some of her hits such as "Crazy In Love" and "Perfect". The star-studded mixer in Udaipur saw former US Secretaries of State John Kerry and Hillary Clinton groove to beat, which was of course captured on video.
During the pre-wedding celebrations held in Rajasthan's Udaipur since last week, guests were treated to dazzling performances from the likes of American pop sensation Beyonce Knowles, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Joining them was a who's-who of India's super-rich elite, arriving on dozens of specially chartered flights into Udaipur's normally sleepy airport and whisked away in expensive cars.
There was a high police presence in the south Mumbai area around the Ambanis' home, which is called Antilia and reportedly cost over US$1 billion (S$1.37 billion) when it was completed in 2010. The Ambani and Piramal families have been friends for four decades and the wedding will bring India's two most influential families closer.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, left, speaks with his son Anant, sitting on a horse.
Bloomberg previously reported that the wedding was expected to cost up to $100m (£79.8m), while someone close to the family said it would cost no more than $15m (£12m). He is worth more than US$47 billion and recently overtook China's Mr Jack Ma as Asia's wealthiest man.
The wedding caps a big month for what social media users have been calling "big fat Indian weddings".
"Isha Ambani's wedding is a ideal example of the wealth inequality in India", wrote one Twitter user.
It comes after worldwide pop star Beyonce was hired to perform at an elaborate pre-wedding bash in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in the lead up to the big day.
