A day after the release of actor Vijay's latest film Sarkar, the Information and Publicity Minister of Tamil Nadu as well as the Law Minister of Tamil Nadu have warned action against the screening of the film that is now running to packed screens across theatres in the state.
In the meanwhile, actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar - who plays the role of Komalavalli in the film - also took to Twitter to share her opinion.
A day later, the Madras High Court restrained the state police from arresting AR Murugadoss till 27 November.
Murugadoss's counsel informed the court that the objectionable portions had already been removed from the film.
"We believe they (Sarkar team) have realised that they have hurt people's sentiments and have come forward to remove the scenes.it is welcome".
"The protests will not continue", he said.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju said the issue has been settled as the film unit "has agreed to our demand of removing the objectionable scene".
According to trade analysts, the film is unstoppable in the US. He said the party's opposition had nothing to do with criticism of the government. Also a woman character's name, apparently referring to the late AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, was muted after backlash from the ruling party workers.
Similarly, actor Rajinikanth tweeted in support of the the movie condemning damage to the film's banners.
The AIADMK has been staging protests across TN theatres seeking the removal of some scenes from the movie.
On Thursday, the AIADMK was up in arms against "Sarkar" with senior state ministers demanding deletion of the contentious scenes, besides threatening to initiate legal action if the film crew failed to comply. Head of the Tamil Nadu Theatres Association Abirami Ramanathan confirmed to TNM about the cuts carried out in the movie.
The AIAMDK government under late J. Jayalalithaa offered free mixer, grinder, laptops and others to the poor. Following the controversy over Sarkar film, AR Murugadoss had applied for anticipatory bail at Madras High Court.
Sarkar is produced by Sun Pictures with music composed by ARRahman.
