Livingston was disappointed that he wasn't able to get the lotto ticket due to what had happened.
"Our obsession with lotteries, with gambling, is that unicorn feeling of, like, 'maybe it'll be me, '" CBS News business analyst Jill Schlesinger said. "It's wonderful we can't thank them enough".
Livingston will need a hip replacement, but he says he's thankful.
"One of my family members wouldn't leave me alone until I checked my ticket", the mother said.
The Powerball numbers 3, 21, 45, 53, 56 and a Powerball of 22 were drawn on Wednesday night. He lives alone on a fixed income and says he is going to use his lottery winnings to pay taxes.
