KFMB-TV says no other injuries were reported as of Sunday evening.
Police responded Sunday evening to reports of an officer-involved shooting at the Del Mar Racetrack in Southern California, where a concert featuring rapper Ice Cube was scheduled. Reports said deputies ordered the man to drop the weapon, then fired four rounds when he refused to follow their instructions, hitting him at least once.
After being told that the Ice Cube concert was sold out, Elizarrars reportedly got into an argument.
Elizarraras was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla and as of Monday, was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.
It has been reported by several local news outlets that a sheriff's deputy was shot but no civilians were injured in the incident.
A video of the shooting that was posted on Twitter records the sounds of several shots being fired before a man falls to the ground.
The concert was scheduled for the Del Mar Racetrack at the fairgrounds about 21 miles north of downtown San Diego. Just half an hour after the shooting, and with the day's racing finished, the racecourse tweeted that the gangsta rap gig would go ahead as planned. TVG documented the shooting while calling a race with a broadcaster repeatedly saying: "There is gunfire at the track".
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club said in a statement that under its special events protocol, substantial law enforcement and private security were on site during the event.
Del Mar's official Twitter account said at 6:37 p.m. PT that the concert was officially "sold out".
