Brace yourselves. you might have to wait almost a year for the Game of Throneseighth and final season premiere (say it ain't so!), but HBO has finally released a teensy bit of footage for diehard fans. According to Metro, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss wanted time to craft the strongest season finale they could.
In the meantime, fans have the world's shortest teaser from HBO to keep them occupied until a season eight trailer is released.
HBO has a slew of high-profile series coming up, including Camping, as well as the long-awaited return of Veep and a new season of Barry. However, fan demand prompted a second season order, with Moriarty writing a new story that the show's second season will be based on. While most of the GoT footage in the video comes from previous episodes, there are a couple of shots from the show's upcoming final season.
The first season of the show was based on author Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name, and it was meant to be a limited series that would cover the plot of the book.
"In two years we'll be eligible for the Season 8 work", he told HP about about The Emmy's, "which we're just beginning now".

Since shows have to air the majority of their episodes before 31 May in any given year to qualify for Emmy nominations, it's a fair bet on those grounds that Game Of Thrones won't be airing before then. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it reunion between Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), both looking a little anxious since, y'know, the Wall came down at the end of Season 7.
