In the book, which will be released Tuesday, Manigault Newman paints a damning picture of Trump, including claiming without evidence that tapes exist of him using the N-word as he filmed his "The Apprentice" reality series, on which she co-starred.
Sanders spoke out against Omarosa's book in a statement released Friday, saying, "Instead of telling the truth about all the good President Trump and his administration are doing to make America safe and prosperous, this book is riddled with lies and false accusations".
The White House has not reacted yet to the revelation, as experts and former White House officials discussed the implications of the tape, with some suggesting it was a massive security breach.
Although Omarosa was hired in an entry-level position to work in former Vice President Al Gore's office, she was quickly shuffled out the door due to the poor quality of her work. She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said Ok. "You don't know till it starts bubbling and bubbling", she responded, calling her dramatic reversal the gift of hindsight. Omarosa taking it upon herself to secretly record her firing in the Situation Room is also a big deal since serious conversations that happen in the room are supposed to be confidential in a lot of instances.
She alleges that Trump has exhibited signs of a "mental decline that could not be denied" and says she went as far as printing out a study linking Diet Coke consumption to dementia and strokes and putting it in his briefing stack.
"I don't love you leaving at all", he added.
"General Kelly came to me and said that you guys want me to leave", she said.
When Todd asked Newman if she had ever heard the President say the slur, she said, "You know, I was in his presence when he said inappropriate things, but he has never said the N-word in my presence. The fact that she was recording a conversation in there, really, raises alarm bells in the minds of people who have worked in that room".
Quoting Trump's early, post-inauguration speech at the Central Intelligence Agency lamenting his inauguration crowd, Manigault Newman takes some editorial liberty, adding within quotation marks that Trump says, "Liars!"
Manigault Newman was a contestant on Trump's reality show, "The Apprentice", and later served as a Senior Adviser to the President. I wanted to see the best in him.
"I've heard his voice", Manigault Newman said. Sure, it's going to look retaliatory, but at this point it couldn't look worse than it is at the moment for the White House.
Manigault said that since this was her first conversation with Kelly, she'd like to ask some questions.
