President Trump speaks about the economy during a statement on the South Lawn of the White House on Friday. His greatest hits include such gems as "Make America Great Again!", "Build that wall!", and a personal favorite, "no collusion!"
"Collusion is not a crime, but that doesn't matter because there was No Collusion", Trump tweeted, referring to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
As people who have been keeping up with the news know, Trump is a man with a deep understanding of the English language, focused on the specifics of semantics.
Former FBI Director James Comey said during a CNN town hall in April that "collusion is actually not a thing that exists under the federal laws of the United States", and that he "had never heard the term until it appeared in the media".
The fate of the presidency hinges on synonyms in a thesaurus, as the dictionary itself pointed out.
Trump has denied any collusion for months. Hacking is the crime.
Giuliani told Sean Hannity that his team had moved away from allowing the president to answer even "a few limited questions on collusion".
"On Thursday, Giuliani had told Camerota's fellow CNN anchor Chris Cuomo: "[Trump] didn't know about it. Mueller, if he does not like the proposed limits on questioning, could subpoena Trump to testify, setting the stage for a legal fight that could eventually be decided by the Supreme Court over whether a sitting president can be compelled to testify.
Manafort was charged with conspiracy and other offenses related to the millions of dollars he allegedly made working for the Ukrainian government many years before he worked for the Trump campaign.
Giuliani also vaguely questioned Mueller's fitness to lead the investigation, which he took over after Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey past year. In fact, prosecutors said last week they don't expect the word "Russia" to be mentioned at all. "They change nearly by the hour".
Should Manafort be convicted, the investigation by Mr Mueller could gain some momentum.
