Or Romero will derail the New Zealand fighter and force the UFC to make a decision.
Robert Whittaker will have to wait to defend his middleweight title after his bout against Yoel Romero was axed to a non-title fight after the challenger failed to make the weight.
At the time of writing, the terms of the contest are not clear but UFC President Dana White confirmed that the fight will take place while it remains to be seen whether a title will be on the line, whether it will be the main event or how many rounds it will be.
In the second round, a Whittaker left hand caused some bad swelling on Romero's right eye. Romero controlled the third round with a series of combinations, but Whittaker was able to land two significant kicks. As a result of Romero missing weight, Rockhold could only win the interim title if he won the fight.
Unlike their UFC 213 fight that was more of a high-powered chess match, the rematch was packed with fireworks and saw both fighters have their moments.
That said, their second encounter remains a mouth-watering proposition over five rounds.
Romero started the third frame with desperation coursing through his veins, attacking wildly, and it worked.
And because it wasn't a title fight, the UFC should be extra grateful that Whittaker ended up beating Romero.
"It's very hard. We come here to fight for the title", Romero said. Romero swarmed and relentlessly punched Whittaker, who was on all-fours, just trying to survive.
This card featured five current and former UFC champions in front of a sold-out United Center crowd.
The two fighters were introduced and faced off at the ceremonial weigh-ins later Friday. All three judges scored it 29-28.
