The Tampa Bay Times reports 2-year-old golden retriever Eleanor Rigby went into labor at Gate F-81 and birthed eight puppies - seven males and a female.
They missed the flight, and for the next three hours created a fuzzy spectacle as crowds gathered with phones trying to capture the scene.
Fortunately, Tampa Fire & Rescue's Aircraft Rescue Firefighters paramedics were close by to help out with the canine delivery. Tampa International Airport wrote on its Facebook page.
Ellie, who was pregnant with 8 puppies, gave birth one-by-one with the puppies' dad, Nugget, also Van Atter's dog, right by her side.
The puppies aren't allowed to fly for another eight weeks so Van Atter said she will drive home with them.
No planes were delayed and all the puppies were successfully delivered.
