From 2001 to 2018, Gianluiggi Buffon was the legendary GK of Juventus Turin.
In post-match interviews, the 40-year-old Italian great continued his abuse of Oliver and questioned his ability as a referee as well his lack of heart and compassion.
"Until 15 days ago, it was clearly known that I wanted to stop playing".
Speaking to juventus.com, he said: "Saturday will be my final match for Juventus and to end this journey with two cups and with the entire Bianconeri world by my side will be very special".
"The referee gave me a red card - which I still don't understand - and you (the press) rather than focusing on my comments, should look at behaviour from the official that was not really consistent."
"On Saturday I will play a match and this is the only thing that is certain".
He has made a record 176 appearances for Italy, winning the World Cup in 2006.
"I am not someone who thinks it is right to end my career in who knows what third or fourth level division", he said. "I am a competitive animal and I wouldn't be able to live or feel at ease in that situation", he said. "If one day I am considered someone who can help the cause, Juventus will take priority for me", he added.
Despite this, there is still speculation that Liverpool FC could be on the hunt for a new shot-stopper this summer, and Italy legend Buffon is being touted as a possible target.
Meanwhile, Buffon has never managed to win the Champions League, losing the 2003 final to AC Milan, in 2014 to Barcelona and in 2017 to Real Madrid.
