Barcelona's Lionel Messi says it would be "terrible" if his old team-mate Neymar joined rivals Real Madrid.

Messi and Neymar were teammates for four years in Catalonia, so it's no surprise that the Argentine doesn't want the move to happen.

However, in typical Neymar style, rumours began only months later that he was unhappy in France and was only interested in playing the Champions League fixtures - with the poor standard of Ligue 1 opposition taking him by surprise.

To finish at Real Madrid would be a big hit to us ...

"Although [Neymar's time in Barcelona] ended the way it did, he won important titles here, he won the Champions League, he won La Liga". And at a soccer level, he would make Madrid much stronger than that it is.

He told TyC Sports: "It would be awful, because of everything he means to Barcelona".

The five-time Ballon d'Or victor also spoke of his commitment to Barcelona, saying he believes he can achieve all his dreams with the Catalan club.

"I am not tempted to leave Barcelona".

The Egyptian helped Liverpool seal a spot in next season's Champions League, and has an opportunity to win it this season when they face holders Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26. 'No matter who you're going to play against it's going to be one of the best players in the world because that's the nature of the team they have. Every year I fight to win everything.

A combination of factors have seen him fleetingly linked with Premier League champions Manchester City over recent years - namely the necessary financial means, the presence of his old mentor Pep Guardiola and the prospect of linking up with long-time friend and global colleague Sergio Aguero in attack.

I've never said that I am, not first, second, third, or fourth.
