Jeffrey Tambor, who left the Amazon TV series Transparent following sexual harassment accusations, will be back for the fifth season of popular comedy series Arrested Development. An internal investigation led to Tambor stepping down, and later being dismissed, from his role in the Amazon series. Netflix did not address the allegations stemming from his time at Amazon's Transparent.
The allegations against Tambor were made in November of past year by Van Barnes, Tambor's former personal assistant, and Trace Lysette, a guest star on the show.
A representative for 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind the show, confirmed Tambor's return on screen with several news outlets.
Tambor's denied the allegations, saying, "I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon's handling of these false accusations against me".
"He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrust back and forth against my body", Lysette said.
Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for Arrested Development Season 5. "I am even more disappointed in Jill Soloway's unfair characterization of me as someone who would ever cause harm to any of my fellow cast mates", Tambor said in a statement after he was let go.
"Therefore, I can only surmise that the investigation against me was deeply flawed and biased toward the toxic politicised atmosphere that afflicted our set".
Likewise, Tambor's former assistant Van Barnes claimed that he groped her and threatened to sue if she told anyone.
Netflix confirmed to CNN this week that Tambor would be part of the upcoming fifth season of Arrested Development. As I have consistently stated, I deeply regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone and I will continue to vehemently defend myself.
Do you think it was the right decision for Tambor to return for Arrested Development? . "Arrested Development", which is created by Mitchell Hurwitz, also stars Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, and Alia Shawkat.
