It wasn't quite a record breaking weekend in the United Kingdom and Avengers Infinity War has a gross or £23.1 million making it the 6th top grossing debut weekend ever.
Initially slated to be split into two films, Avengers Part 1 and 2, Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, chose to split the films in a more distinct way, separating them into Infinity War and the yet-to-be-named Avengers 4 sequel in 20109. It will be interesting to see what the other members of the DCEU think of the film. This news comes after the fact that Infinity War took down the Star Wars reboot with the biggest opening weekend for a film at the North American box office.
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time.
That's according to Exhibitor Relations, which reports the movie earned $87.9 million globally on Tuesday alone. However, there are still two movies to come before Avengers 4 takes over theaters.
So it's high praise indeed that the director of Doctor Strange, Scott Derrickson, has applauded how Infinity War showcased the sorcerer supreme. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality.
Considering just how many heroes are crammed into Infinity War, it was hard to believe that any of the individual characters would be done justice or get a substantial moment to shine.
