White House national security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster could leave his position in the White House by the end of the month, according to an administration official. "There are no personnel announcements at this time".
"General McMaster forgot to say that the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians and that the only Collusion was between Russia and Crooked H, the DNC and the Dems", Trump tweeted after McMaster's comments.
Trump criticized McMaster on Twitter two weeks ago for telling an global audience at the Munich Security Conference that evidence of Russian Federation interfering in the election was "incontrovertible". Now Donald Trump is facing a shrinking circle of trusted advisers and a staff that's grim about any prospect of a reset. Both the White House official and the former military official requested anonymity to discuss the matter.
The publication said Trump griped that McMaster droned on too long and was too rigid in his thinking.
"He told McMaster he is doing a great job", Anton said.
McMaster joined the administration a year ago after Trump fired his predecessor, Michael Flynn, for lying to the vice president. According to half a dozen defense and administration officials, the Pentagon is looking at the possibility of allowing the President to potentially move the three-star general from his current role in the administration into a four-star military role, CNN reported.
But McMaster, an Army lieutenant general, has often found himself at odds with Trump, and media reports have indicated clashes between the men.
